This StarCraft 2 unit guide will cover the Terran Reaper unit. The Reaper is a brand new unit in StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty that serves a primary role as harasser for the Terran race in single and multiplayer. The Reapers are equipped first off, with jump packs that allow them to quickly leap up and down cliffs, an excellent ability that allows reapers to quickly hit rear areas of a player’s base. Second, the Terran Reapers in StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty come with a special thrown exploding mine weapon called the D-8 charge for attacking buildings, allowing a small group of them to quickly overcome a poorly defended expansion base, or even carve out a nice chunk of a larger primary. The Reapers can also be upgraded to give them greater speed, supplementing their harassment role.
The Reaper is unlocked in the StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty mission ‘The Devil’s Playground’
Reapers in StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty are considered most effective against Protoss player’s being able to be micro-managed outside the range of Zealots given the player does not already have Stalkers. They are still effective against Zerg in early assaults, albeit slightly less so, with the Nitro Pack speed upgrade giving them the capability to outreach speedlings, although roaches will prove an effective foil. Reapers seem to be least effective vs Terrans for early rushes, considering the Marines effectiveness against Reapers combined with their ranged attack.
