We keep hearing about thieves who go for purses and wallets of senior travelers. Recently, a team of robbers were nabbed in a busy New Jersey hotel-business mall area.
The team concentrated their work in the hotel’s large breakfast buffet room. As guests went to fill their plates, those who left purses and other bags came back to their tables and found their property gone. Apparently, the thieves did it just one time too many and were eventually nabbed.
This is no isolated incident, in New Jersey nor any other place in the world where travelers have temporary lapses in their need for constant personal security.
Whenever you’re traveling, always keep your eyes on your belongings. If you need to walk away and out of sight, even for a moment, have your companions watch them for you. Additionally, if you’re in very crowded city areas, be sure your bag is strapped and under your upper arm. If you carry a wallet and other valuables, keep them in an inside pocket that is buttoned.
