Ultra Brite toothpaste has been on the market for years, and I am always up for trying something new if it can save me some money. We needed toothpaste, and when I was comparing prices at my local Walmart store, the Ultra Brite Advanced Whitening Toothpaste really stood out!
While other brands were retailing for $2.89 and more, the regular price of a tube of Ultra Brite Advanced Whitening Toothpaste was only $1.11. I figured it was worth a try, and I didn’t have much to lose. This toothpaste comes in a blue box, and contains 6 ounces. I bought the “Clean Mint” flavor, but that was the only flavor this was available in at the time.
My husband does not like gel toothpastes, he prefers the paste types, and the box did not say which kind it was, nor did it have a picture of the toothpaste on a toothbrush (as so many brands do these days). It does, however, have three pictures of teeth, showing how surface stains dull the tooth enamel, and how Ultra Brite Advanced Whitening can clean and whiten them. Ultra Brite is distributed by the Colgate-Palmolive Company.
Ultra Brite Advanced Whitening Toothpaste claims to freshen breath, fight cavities, whiten teeth, and that it tastes great. There is no fancy flip top cap on the tube, this one screws off the old fashioned way. I actually prefer those types of caps because the flip tops get very messy and covered with dried on toothpaste. The product is indeed a white paste, but immediately I was disappointed in the flavor. I am a mint lover, and this did not taste at all like mint to me. I wasn’t sure I would be able to continue to use this toothpaste, based on my initial experience.
As for the claims, I did not notice any freshening of my breath, but I know it should fight cavities based on the fact that it contains 0.24% sodium fluoride, which is an anti-cavity ingredient. I have not used it long enough to know if it will whiten my teeth, but it does contain hydrated silica, which should be a slight abrasive that just might do the job. As for the “Great Taste”, sorry Colgate-Palmolive, but this just doesn’t live up to my expectations.
If you are looking for a very inexpensive fluoride toothpaste, and you are not real fussy about how it tastes, then I highly recommend Ultra Brite Advanced Whitening Toothpaste. However, if you want a super minty flavor, one that leaves your mouth feeling fresh, I would not expect to get it from this product. I will say that my teeth did feel exceptionally clean and smooth after just one brushing, and if it had a better taste this would be a toothpaste that would be on my grocery list on a continual basis.
