This Medical University, which is comprised of two-thousand students and surrounded by small villages, has been the recent scene of several after death butcherings and I’m checking out my leading suspects. It has existed since 1832 with a reputation for training the world’s best surgeons. I’m attending as an undercover student.
I first stumbled into Nate who is a typical charming guy. He comes from a wealthy family. He starts talking about how he had fallen in love with a girl that his parents would never approve of him dating. He has yet to share this information with them or with her.
His girlfriend, Maggie, was valedictorian of her graduating class as well as a champion cowgirl in her home state. Mags was able to get a full scholarship but she is also working a full-time job and sending the bulk of the check back home in order to help her family. Nate did know that even though his parents weren’t famous, they were snobs and wouldn’t approve of his newfound love. Mags passed through the quad and interjected her quirky self into our conversation
So I am enrolled in fourteen-semester units and feeling a bit overwhelmed. As I’m complaining about how stressed I feel, I am given a reality check via chemistry classmate, Bonnie. She is not only taking twenty-two-semester units but working roughly sixty-hours a week between her two part-times jobs. She is paying her way through medical school since she was only able to receive a partial scholarship.
Just to show how small my world has become, Bonnie just happens to be Maggie’s best friend. Bonnie talks a lot. Not only did she let me know that she has four younger brothers, her favorite color is mint green and she never touches caffeine, she also some information with me that is pertinent to my case.
She told me that at the end of last semester the campus began requesting students to report any unusual sightings, meaning snitch on anyone who was entering various parts of the campus during off hours. Apparently, accurate records were never taken since the campus was so small and secluded. The room is locked but all students with surgical courses have the pass code in order to enter the room.
I couldn’t believe the details that she was sharing with me regarding how disfigured, dismantled and nearly disembodied these corpses were reduced to long after death in such a casual manner. It was only fitting that after this conversation, I was off to have my first cadaver course. I followed the packed halls into a small, dark and cold concrete entryway that led into this expansive basement filled with corpses. At a glance, there was nothing out of the ordinary. Professor Hodgkins gave his introductory lecture regarding what materials we would need to supply for the semester’s work requirements. We were given the pass code to the room and class concluded with Matthew nodding off onto a cadaver nonetheless. Taking the draping with him to floor as yet another disfigured corpse was revealed. It’s odd that he would fall asleep on the only decapitated, armless, legless body in the room.
Matt apparently bored easily. He claimed to have no idea who was involved with these attacks on the dead. Matt is always the top of all his classes. He has a borderline genius IQ even though he is the first in his family to graduate from high school. He is sexy and gave up several football scholarships in exchange for a partial academic scholarship at this university. His high metabolism is what he blames for constantly nodding off in courses but he never misses a beat.
He also tells me that he has a huge crush on Mags. He’s thinking about dating her best friend, Bonnie; just to get closer to her. He knows it’s a bad idea but is also aware of Mags and Nate’s over-kinky sex lives. At a frat party last week, she told him that her boyfriend and her get off on operating on cadavers and can’t wait to work on live bodies. Talking about procedures is like foreplay to them and that is something that he could never share with her.
Matt’s attempts to date Bonnie fail miserably. It turns out that she’s a lesbian and has started dating Jennifer. I end up meeting Jennifer in the Student Union. She is a quiet, humble girl with a hot body and a brain to match. She is also an active young woman who practices several different martial arts. She tells me that her girlfriend is not doing as well as she claims. She is in danger of failing her cadaver midterm and there’s no way for her to miss a single slice on her next project and apparently there are no extra bodies for practicing.
Bonnie and I strike up a conversation before chemistry class begins. She tells me that her girlfriend’s most recent ex was none other than Mr. Hodgkins, Head of Surgical Studies.
From my recent work, I decided to go with my gut and follow the couple. I kept a tight watch on them and just as suspected, they were sneaking into the cadaver department after hours. Unfortunately, their sexual fantasies got them brutally murdered.
It turns out that Corbin, who was rejected from this university where the last three generations of his family has attended, started practicing his weak skills on cadavers but quickly realized that his gifts would never be graded. In order to have an accurate acknowledgement of his improvement, he decided to catch the freaky couple.
Once I was ready to enter the laboratory, my code wouldn’t work. Upon entering, my worst fears became reality.
He wanted to set them up until they began being praised for his prowess. He setup the lab one final time, puts himself out just long enough to draw them in, then ties them up and records his last surgical endeavor on this campus.
