Last time La Flor voted out Jill, and Marty gave his Hidden Immunity Idol to Sash for safe keeping.
Over at La Flor camp Marty was feeling vulnerable after his puppet closest ally and confidant Jill was voted out last time. Jud/Fabio returned from treemail with a map and a key saying that the tribes would now merge. Marty was ecstatic because this meant that he might have a chance of staying in the game.
Meanwhile at Espada there was a big chest at their treemail with a note telling them not to open it until they got the key and to make room at their camp. They realized that the merge was happening and Alina tried to pitch them to stay a strong six and vote out the others first, especially Marty. But everyone else was gunning for Alina to go because she was a threat.
The old La Flor arrived at the Espada camp and they all opened the chest to find food, new red buffs and cooking equipment. Marty suggested the name “Libertad” for the new tribe name. Later he said in an interview that he chose that name because he felt like now he had a new lease on life – liberty and freedom. But Brenda and NaOnka were busy filling each other in on what was going on and they quickly decided that Alina and Marty would be targeted. At the water canteen Chase and Jane started bonding because they were both hillbillies from North Carolina.
So Libertad was enjoying their food but NaOnka was getting annoyed because everyone was being greedy. So she decided to steal some of the food and cooking equipment and hide it. She let Alina in on it and Alina happily ate oranges and mangoes secretly. Alina also wanted to make sure Na wanted to vote out Marty and Na told her that they were a strong six even though they all wanted Alina out. Holly saw NaOnka take the flour and outed her in front of everyone else. Na tried to deny it but finally Chase convinced her to just come clean because it would look better than lying. So Na did but said she stole the stuff with Alina. Then Sash, Jane, Brenda and Chase strategized that they wanted to keep NaOnka in their alliance but would keep their distance from her. Sash told NaOnka secretly that she was his number one girl. But really he wanted to keep her because he knew no one would vote to give her $1 million.
Meanwhile Marty tried to convince Brenda to vote out Jane because she caught too many fish and would get the sympathy vote. Brenda thought it was funny that Marty thought he still had a say but she just led him on to make him feel like he still had power.
At the immunity challenge: Jeff Probst told the tribe that the challenge would be for two individual immunities, for the last man and woman standing. Basically the Survivors would have to hold two metal holders together to keep in a steel rod. If they lost tension, the rod would slip out and break a tile. The last man and woman without a broken tile would win immunity. Jane won but wanted to show everyone she was just as strong as the men so she kept it up until Fabio won. Then the Survivors headed back to camp to strategize who to vote out.
At the camp the women all hugged and Jane whispered that she wanted Marty out. Sash however didn’t want to go back on his word to give Marty the idol back so asked everyone to not vote Marty. Sash had promised Marty that if he was targeted at the next tribal council Sash would give him the idol back. For some reason the statute of limitations on the idol-giveback ran out after tonight’s tribal council. So then the tribe could vote out Marty and not have to give him the idol – got that? Anyway Dan asked Chase what the plan was and Chase said it was either Alina or Marty and that he was going with the majority. So Dan ran over to Marty and told him that Chase said they were going to blindside him. So Marty panicked and asked Sash and Brenda about it. They reassured him that he was safe and that it would be Alina, but Marty was so irritating they thought that he was digging his own grave. Meanwhile Alina was trying to get people to vote out Marty. In a last ditch effort she tried to convince Fabs but he wouldn’t commit.
At tribal council Marty tried to put the target on Jane and said that he would vote for her if she was in the final three. Alina pointed out that Marty was a threat by showing how strategic he was. Dan outed NaOnka and Alina for stealing the food.
The tribe voted and Alina was voted out with 10 votes.
Next time: Sash and Brenda struggle to hold onto power and NaOnka opens her big mouth at tribal council and leaves Probst speechless.
