When sleeping during the day light hours you will need to darken your bed room. This can be accomplished several ways. One of the favorites is to cut card board squares to a size that fits snugly in each window, the card board is then easily removed while you are working day shift to let light into the room. The card board squares can be stored in a closet until you need them again. If you wish you can hang heavy curtains over the windows or a thick dark blanket. Tin foil on the windows works well if the edges are taped down to prevent any cracks but cannot be easily removed and reinstalled if necessary.
Eat Light Meals before Bed Time
While working a swing or rotating shift, never eat a heavy meal before going to bed. Try to restrict yourself to a snack such as a light sandwich, small bowl of cereal or egg on a biscuit, give your body time to process food before lying down. A full stomach is not easy to sleep with at any time.
