A project started by the Fort Greene Association called Take Back the Pavement is battling unsafe sidewalks in the Fort Greene/Clinton Hill neighborhood. Tripping over uneven sidewalks and rogue tree roots will soon be a thing of the past.
The project will expand numerous tree beds for mature trees looking for more space to grow. It will also help fix hundreds of small garden plots in order to improve water quality and reduce water treatment costs.
In good neighborhood fashion, the whole community is chipping in. The Pratt Area Community Council is supplying the materials and equipment and the NYC Justice Corps is supplying the labor. According to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, the Brownstone Agency provided the bond and Marcus Attorneys is providing administrative support. Kudos to everyone for their effort!
