Stop worrying about the economy. Stop worrying about the Republican take-over of the U.S. House. America is back on top!
The Brooklyn Paper reported the perennial runner-up in the PS 107 chili cook-off, Andrew Hughes, recaptured the Blue Ribbon from the Australians in the Park Slope contest.
For the last two years, Australian wine executive James “Cool Hand” Gosper has taken home the crown. But his defeat this year was anything but humbling to the “down under” oenophile.
“I’ve achieved my goal of improving the general quality of chili in Park Slope,” the former champ boasted, tooting his own horn. “Finally, PS 107 parents are saying, ‘I’m not going to let an Aussie beat me at chili for a third-straight year!’ They rose to the occasion, so I am pleased to have played my part in saving a great American tradition.”
The gracious victor, Hughes, stated in his victory speech “It feels all the more sweeter because of how long a road it was…But I did it for the kids.”
Hughes dubbed his Blue Ribbon winning chili the “Chocolate Thunder” after his secret weapon–shaved dark chocolate. The recipe for the 26-ingredient chili is posted in its entirety on the Brooklyn Paper website. The link is below.
