Week 1 of “Dancing with the Stars” was the number one premiere of the new season, according to host Tom Bergeron. The second week of the season, which aired on Monday, September 29, 2010, featured the quickstep and the jive. Both dances require quick foot movements. As expected, some dancers improved while some of the top contenders struggled. There were a number of entertaining performances, as well as a few duds.
The best dance of the night definitely has to be Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough, who received a 24, the highest scores of the night. Even though they couldn’t do tricks because of Jennifer’s neck, the dance was pristine and precise. She can still shake and shimmy her hips. As I said last week, I expect her to be in the top and at the finale.
Right after Jennifer and Derek’s performance, you could hear boos from the audience. At the same time, Tom Bergeron interviewed Sarah Palin. I think it was pure coincidence. If you’ve ever watched the show, the audience expresses their disappointment when they thin performers should have received higher scores.
The other frontrunners in the first week received lower score on this week of competition. Rick Fox received a 21 instead of a 22. Brandy earned a 21 for her jive (Last week, she had a 23). Kyle earned a 22 for his jive, one point lower than the first week. In the clips, Lacey Schwimmer encouraged Kyle to change his diet. With his potential, Kyle could improve if he listened to her professional instruction.
The biggest improvements of the night included Audrina and Tony, Bristol and Mark, and Kurt and Anna. All of them left the teens and received scores higher than 20. If these players continue to improve, they could be like Kelly Osborne and sneak into the finals or semifinals. Though Florence Henderson only received a 19, she’s in good shape and could surprise the competition and make it to at last the top five.
The elimination of David Hasselhoff surprised me last week because of his star power. This week, it’s hard to say who will go home. The Elimination Show airs on September 28, 2010 on ABC.
