My husband and I both love Thai food. While I am a bit more discerning in my taste, he will eat virtually anything Thai. That includes their pre-packaged rice noodle soups. One of his favorites comes from Thai Kitchen. It is their Roasted Garlic & Vegetable soup.
He loves this mix because it is steam-cooked rather than fried. He also likes that it is quick to fix. It can be ready to eat within 4 minutes from start to finish.

There are also 34 grams of carbohydrate, 3 grams of sugar and 830 milligrams of salt in this soup dish. There is; however, no cholesterol whatsoever.
On a continued positive note, Thai Kitchen Roasted Garlic & Vegetable Instant Rice Noodle Soup offers 3 grams of protein and 2% of the daily-recommended amount of iron. Unfortunately, it contains no fiber or other nutrients.
Noodle ingredients include rice, tapioca starch and water. The seasoning packet contains basil, ginger, hydrolyzed soy, miscellaneous spices, mungbean protein, red chile pepper, roasted garlic, soybean oil, sugar and yeast extract. The oil packet contains garlic, red chile pepper, shallot, soybean oil and tocopherol.
To prepare the noodles, bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a small saucepan on the stovetop. Add in the noodles, seasoning and oil packets and stir.
Cook for about 3 minutes, while stirring consistently. Once the noodles are tender and the water mostly absorbed, they are ready to serve.
To prepare them in the microwave, put 1 cup of water into a microwave safe bowl. Bring the liquid to a rolling boil.
Add in the noodles, seasoning and oil packets and mix together. Return the bowl to the microwave and cook on high for about 3 minutes.
Remove the noodles when they are tender and most of the water is absorbed. Let sit for 30 seconds to 1 minute and then serve.
Here is my summary review:
Taste: 4 stars. My husband swears by Thai Kitchen Roasted Garlic & Vegetable Instant Rice Noodle Soup. He loves the garlic taste combined with the rice noodles. I don’t care for this dish myself because I don’t particularly like the taste of rice noodles.
Preparation ease: 5 stars. This soup is hard to mess up. You just follow the directions and the end result will virtually always be the same. Even my grandson can make these in the microwave at just age 7.
Packaging: 4 stars. Thai Kitchen Roasted Garlic & Vegetable Instant Rice Noodle Soup comes in a bright red and orange package with black trim and white letters. A picture of the noodle soup is provided on the package. While the packaging is a bit too busy, it is certainly colorful and should draw sufficient attention, making it easy to find on the store shelf.
Freshness: 2 stars. All of three of the packages are vacuumed packed. Unfortunately, it appears that the seal is easily broken on the outer cellophane packet that holds the noodles. A broken seal exposes the noodles to the humidity of air. However, the seasoning and oil packets are better secured inside foil pouches.
Dietary value: 2 stars. This product is low in fat but high in carbohydrate and sodium content. It also contains sugar. Luckily it has no cholesterol. Unfortunately, the small protein content and lack of fiber doesn’t help to offset the negative factors.
Green value: 4 stars. The packaging is biodegradable.
Ease of purchase: 2 stars. Thai Kitchen Roasted Garlic & Vegetable Instant Rice Noodle Soup does not appear to be widely distributed. It may take some exploration and a lot of time to locate this product. It is; however, a staple that is likely available at specialty food shops, especially those that carry a lot of Oriental products.
Price: 5 stars. Thai Kitchen Roasted Garlic & Vegetable Instant Rice Noodle Soup is relatively inexpensive. We found it at Big Lots for just $.50 a pack.
Product purchase probability: 3 stars. My husband likes it so we will probably purchase it again.
Retailer purchase probability: 5 stars. We bought ours at Big Lots, which is where we will continue to purchase it since their price is the best we have found so far.
Final rating: 3.7 stars.
