With Thanksgiving rolling around I’m sure we’re all buying some potatoes. Growing up, mashing the Thanksgiving potatoes was always my favorite job. My nana always made the best mashed potatoes, well the best everything. Of course, that could have been personal preference, but here’s a recipe for mouth-watering Thanksgiving mashed potatoes that won’t let your guests down!
First, how many potatoes do you need? Just over one potato per person, so let’s say you’re making mashed potatoes for ten people, we’ll use about 12 potatoes.
What else do you need?
Salt and pepper, 1 cup of ½ and ½ , about 4 tablespoons of butter, and 8 ounces of softened cream cheese.
Wash and peel your potatoes. Then, place the potatoes in a pot of COLD salted water and cover it. Bring the potatoes to a boil. Cook for about 15 minutes or until they are tender. Now drain the potatoes. Once their drained, mash them with a hand mixer, don’t mash them until they are creamy mash them until they are small and chunky. Now, add the cream cheese, butter, salt and pepper. Now mix them with a hand mixer until they are creamy.
Now that they’re all mixed place them in an oven safe casserole dish. Bake them at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.
P.S. leave some nutmeg on the table and encourage your guests to sprinkle some on the mashed potatoes! The taste fits the season!
