Of course there are a plethora of weight loss tips out there for all to find. Some weight loss tips will aid in your success, some only work for some people, some don’t work at all, and some are just plain crazy. But the following 3 tips are guaranteed to help you get started on a healthier you-as long as you stick to them diligently and with true intention. Sounds easy, right? Okay, so here we go.
The 3 Best Tips for Your Weight Loss Success:
#1: Portion Control
I know. This one seems like a no-brainer. But portion control is not as easy as you might think. And many people have no idea how to control their portions. To view some fun ways to keep your portions of food under control, please visit Portion Size Plate at WebMD and enjoy the slideshow.
And remember these other great tips for portion control:
At a restaurant: After you’ve been served, separate half your meal to take home; have the server box it before you start eating (if you don’t find this to be unacceptable restaurant behavior).
At home: Weigh meat portions on a food scale. 3 oz. portions are acceptable when you are trying to lose weight (depending upon your gender and size). 4-5 oz. portions are acceptable for weight maintenance. (Please note: If you’ve never weighed your meat, you’ll be surprised at how much 3 oz. actually is).
Load up on vegetables: Eating 2 cups of vegetables with lunch as well as dinner is a great way to avoid eating an oversized desert. Make a salad to eat with your meal or choose two healthy veggies to steam and eat.
Whether you love to exercise or you break out in hives just thinking about taking a walk, you must know that an appropriate amount of exercise is essential to your weight loss success. I recommend exercising at least 3 times per week for 30-60 minutes each time. However, you must know your body and decide how much exercise you can handle. Don’t be afraid to sweat but don’t over train either.
A few exercise tips:
Break up your weekly exercise routines with equal parts cardio (treadmill, running, swimming, etc.) and weight/resistance training.
Try circuit training to avoid exercise boredom.
Take at least one day off per week to let your body rest. Working out 7 days a week may actually impede your weight loss success.

#3: Drink Plenty of Water
Drinking water is so important for your weight loss success. Many people only think they are drinking enough water.
Tips to guarantee you get your daily dose of healthy H2O:
Experts recommend drinking eight 8 oz. glasses of water per day (Mayo Clinic.com, 2010). Don’t be afraid to make a water list and check it off every time you finish a glass of water.
You may count water, natural juices (be mindful of natural sugars), milk, and tea as part of your water intake.
Add a squeeze of fresh lemon to your water for a great taste and to break up the water drinking monotony (if you have one).
If you are active throughout the day remember to stay hydrated and do not be afraid to drink more than the recommended eight glasses.
