The band Five for Fighting said it best in their song a hundred years to live “That at fifteen there is time for you” and the best time is now. There is pressure that what you do now makes your future or this is the best moments of your life not true. There are secrets that many fail to share about this time whether it’s there desire for you to figure it out or just a hidden envy that some wish they had the chance to do it all over again but differently. At least ten things cross my mind I wish I knew at that age would have made my journey easier.
1) The scrutiny will not endure forever
In time it will be replaced with rewards, praise and accolades of who you are as a person. Whether the scrutiny is from bullies, teachers, friends or parents you don’t have to endure these your entire life now is the time you build to progress to something you want to be you want to achieve and you want to have meaning in your life. Despite the negative comment; they don’t know what you are capable of yet, you don’t know what you are capable yet and you are only in your beginning. Till then don’t let hardened hearts impede you!
2) Don’t be someone else your not for others
You feel left out and always at a distance from others cause you just don’t fit into that direction everyone have flowed onto. Well, it’s inescapable you are a free thinker or go against the grain type of person. Original people seldom imitate others you are not cut from the same mold nor a little cookie cutter gingerbread boy or girl. So, why do you want to squeeze a part of who your are into a shape that your not intended to fill any way. Be patient you are intended to fit another purpose not yet realized or ready to be appreciated for it takes time. Even rivers change course in time and other will toward your direction.
3) The seesaw will eventually tip in your favor
It’s a hard and confusing time where you will here some tell you: who do you think you are your not an adult! And that same person will tell: your not a kid anymore so grow up! Eventually the scale tips in your favor there is no stopping it and you can’t be told you are not one thing or another. You will be an adult and if you choose a child in heart and spirit at anytime you care to feel joy or happiness. You will find your own balance in life not others for you. Eventually, everyone will have to play fair eventually on the playground if they want to stay.
4) Those in authority to make your decisions are not always right
The choices others make for you may not be the best and in time you will make your own choices and correct the wrong ones that were made for you. Though you have to follow the rules for now authority is a vested right that is always changing and never permanent. That is why society values elected leaders over dictators. No burden of authority is ever permanent in life unless we take reckless action. Then time will come for your decision whether right and sometimes wrong your decisions one day will be challenged by others. Only then we find the sound actions worth sharing and eliminate the demands that burden us.
5) The plans you make today is not intended to be set in stone
The pressure to make the right choices can alter the rest of your life is hogwash. You must be able to make changes accordingly as outside influences change the status of decisions we made yesterday don’t fit our need tomorrow. In time all things change therefore you must in order to keep up and live in the present. Our past only prepares us to be ever mobile to influence the good and the bad. Never rooted to the foundation concept that restrict us from leaving when necessary and going after new opportunities as they drift in the distance.
6) The good can be bad and the bad unrecognized good destroyed
Some supposed fine people are capable of doing the worst actions against others and you. While surprisingly those individuals who represent supposed the worst character as a person are good people destroyed by very bad occurrences in life. The action to place a permanent label or mislabel in society exists your choice to agree with that it should be permanent is yours. Remember the choice to discriminate and to protect your self from harm lies on an undefined line there are no clear fences you have to determine the difference. Once you make that determination you can build the boundaries against the seemingly worst.
7) A mistake does not define the rest of your life
Every one makes mistakes no matter the size and no matter the age. We own up to them suffer the consequences and reform form them. We can choose to live our life as the mistakes and we choose to strive to live past our mistakes. Don’t let any one tell you different, we are not the mistakes we make in life. These are the actions we learn to distance ourselves from to be better. No life is a mistake and no life is a definition of a mistake. How we choose to deal with these actions only define our strengths or faults.
8) Potential has no test to determine your value and there is no true measure
The stress PSAT and SAT the right school or the right course are measures of future potential. That one score determines whether you will measure up in life is absolute garbage. There are many grounds of education this is one form from institutions of learning. In life there is the education of being well traveled and well experienced. Not one form of education holds all the answers nor all the answers don’t lie in books. Potential is molded when all aspect of learning is achieved. To be well read is but a tool to better know where to travel. In travels you gain experience and identify the problems and find the answers the world needs. This is where potential reveals it’s full expanse when all avenues are taken and all avenues of learning valued. Too many people will lazily rely on only a diplomas and nothing more it is a pitiful limitation. It’s only a piece of paper just now what more do you desire to be is your option.
9) You will be a different person later then you are now
You will never remain the same person no one will stay exactly the same. Physically, emotionally and mentally we all mature to be different people. Our values will change and what once important to us now will be different years later. It only reflects that some things can’t be held forever in our life as we all redefine what is important to hold dearly to in our life. Don’t ever be surprised those you knew changed too either visible or hidden. No person is a time capsule memories serve that retrospective to see how far you have excelled or to return to start again when we feel lost.
10) You are no less than the greatest person and you are no more than the least person
Many will try to live a life by ideas of who and what we all are as a measured value to society. Great or small we all more or less are born and die just the same. One thing we all are before this measure is a human being nothing more or nothing less. We place an esteemed value on each other by different means the repercussions it requires a human appraisal to do so. This sells people short for making modest contributions or priced high for achieving selfish wealth. Don’t be fooled when one flaunts what one has and what you must have to be of worth. Equal balance for your life’s value and value of others expends the least effort and greater rewards. There are no winners in competitions against others the true competition is in who you will be to the world.
