“The Apprentice” 9/16 Recap – Building Modern Office Space
For the first “Apprentice” challenge, Donald Trump had the sixteen contestants break into two teams, men vs. women. The men promptly called themselves Octane and the women named themselves Fortitude. Their first test was to each design a modern working office space in one of the buildings across from Wall Street. Each team chose a project manager to lead the team. The men’s Octane group nominated Gene and the women’s Fortitude group nominated Nicole.
“The Apprentice” 9/16 Recap – Men on Team “Octane”
In the beginning Gene was unsure of how to design the office space, irritating David the most. In fact, David was irritated by a few others as well. He mostly had issues with fellow contestant, Clint. The two butted heads but later put their differences aside. Gene finally took over when he had enough of being pushed aside. David got in Gene’s face then Gene put him in his place.

Of course, when it wasn’t up to Donald Trump’s standards, Nicole blamed Tyana. Nicole was bashed by every single member of her team on Fortitude. Though Nicole was a leader in her own way, she wasn’t assertive or direct enough for the other “Apprentice” contestants in week one.
Episode 9/16 Unveiled True Colors in “The Apprentice” Boardroom
While both teams faced Trump in the boardroom, the men voiced the conflicts they encountered. Gene was a bit indecisive when Trump asked him who the weakest link on his team was. He named James, who was the artist behind the office design. The whole team admitted the first day the had a hard time, but ironed out their obstacles in working together by the next day.
Week One of “The Apprentice” Showed How Feisty the Women Contestants Are
The women wasted no time in throwing Nicole under the bus. The women began arguing and wouldn’t let up on Nicole and the conflicts they dealt with. Finally, “The Apprentice” boss and his daughter, Ivanka, told them it was enough. Donald ended it by saying team Octane won and the women lost. Though he didn’t like either office design, the men understood the modern concept better than team Fortitude.
“The Apprentice” 9/16 Recap – The Fired Contestant Came off as a Doormat
Trump and his team couldn’t understand why as competent as Nicole is, she wouldn’t stand up for herself. In the end, she did, but it wasn’t enough. He told Nicole she was fired and when the door closed behind her he said that he’s going to set her up for an interview with Miss Universe. Not a bad way to hit the road!
