It’s the ninth episode of real people “hurt by the recession,” vying for a spot in the Trump empire. Last week David was fired.
First off the candidates were called back into the boardroom. Donald Trump told Anand that he had been caught asking his friends to come by during the pedicab task, pretend they were strangers and pay $50. Anand tried to deny it, but Mr. Trump showed him the proof; which turned out to be his text messages. Anand admitted it and was immediately fired. Trump probably won’t help him find a new job. This seems weird because during the other Apprentice shows, especially the celebrity versions, the candidates always called their friends up to bring money for their task.
As winning project manager for the last task, Brandy met with Macy’s president and chairman Terry Lundgren.
Then the week’s task was announced. The teams would have to create in-store displays at Perfumania for Kim Kardashian’s new perfume. Trump put Liza back onto Fortitude with Stephanie and Poppy. Octane was Steuart, Brandy and Clint. Clint and Poppy were the project managers.
At Fortitude the ladies wanted to focus on Kim’s sex appeal and also have the display interactive. They decided to have a giant cutout of Kim on a swing that people could pose with for pictures. Liza focused on construction while Poppy and Steph focused on the graphics and accessories. Poppy and Stephanie wanted to make sure that Liza was thrown under the bus if they lost. Liza thought expensive-looking accessories would be the best thing and thought the ones Poppy and Stephanie came back with (sequins, jewels and feather boas) looked “tacky” and not representative of Ms. Kardahsian.
At Octane the team decided to create an old-time vanity and put the perfume bottles where the light bulbs would be. Brandy felt a bit on the outs because Clint and Steuart left her alone while they supervised the construction. She told Ivanka that she might get singled out if they lost since she was the lone woman. But once they put all the pieces together the display looked great except Brandy wasn’t as wowed as the guys.
At the presentations of the displays: Fortitude thought Kim “ate up” their display even though she didn’t seem that excited by it. For Octane Clint seemed to impress Kim and Perfumania CEO Stephen Nussdorf.
Kim and Stephen met with Donald Trump to talk about the displays. Stephen said he liked Fortitude’s interactive side especially where people could take a picture with Kim’s cutout. Kim liked Octane’s display because she said it was organized, well-thought out, clean and inviting.
In the boardroom: Clint praised Steuart and called him the star of the project but said that Brandy didn’t do much and didn’t like the idea. Meanwhile Poppy praised both team members and said she thought they captured the essence of Ms. Kardashian with their display. The Trumps announced that Kim and Stephen didn’t like Fortitude’s display but loved Octane’s. Trump said the task win wasn’t even close. The winner was Octane. Clint would meet with Starwood Hotel’s CEO Barry Sternlicht.
After Octane left the Trumps talked to Fortitude about their display. Ivanka said that Kim called it “cheesy” and over-the-top. Liza said she was against the way the display looked and said Octane’s was much better. Poppy tried to defend herself by saying she had to keep Stephanie and Liza apart. But Liza said she had always been picked on even though she didn’t do anything wrong. Then Liza and Stephanie got into words and Poppy sat back and didn’t say anything. Poppy blamed Stephanie for supporting her over the bad display idea.
Poppy, you’re fired for having the bad idea for the task.
Now Poppy is happily working in stem-cell research
Next week: The candidates have to create a campaign for FLO-TV and AT&T.
