It’s the eighth episode of real people “hurt by the recession,” vying for a spot in the Trump empire. Last week Mahsa was fired.
As winning project manager for the last task, Steuart met with Snapple CEO and president.
The task this week was to come up with a four-page print ad campaign featuring Donald J. Trump Signature men’s line of shirts, ties and cuff links at Macy’s. The task would be judged on creativity, brand integration and presentation by Macy’s president and chairman Terry Lundgren and Trump brand exec Cathy Glosser. Mr. Trump changed the teams around so Octane was now Brandy, Clint, Liza and Steuart while Fortitude was Anand, David, Poppy and Stephanie. David and Brandy stepped up to be the project managers. Trump told them not to mess it up because the ads represented him.
Fortitude: Anand, David, Poppy and Stephanie
Over at Fortitude the team decided to make the clothes pop by having them be color but everything else in black and white. David chose a cover model who didn’t fit into the shirt which worried Anand and Poppy. Anand said David picked that model because he had a “man crush” on him especially when David said the model was “awesome.” David got annoyed at Anand and Poppy when they didn’t order lunch and got into a fight with them right when Don Jr. came to check on their progress. David and Anand then got into it again during the photo selection process. David told Anand to go away and Anand commented that David was going down in flames.
Octane: Brandy, Clint, Liza and Steuart
Octane wanted to push the envelope and make a sexy ad with women wearing the men’s clothing. Their ad would feature a female model on a bed wearing a man’s shirt like a morning-after sex look. Liza second-guessed it because she thought it might offend Mr. Trump. Obviously she doesn’t know that Mr. Trump is all about sexy women. Steuart and Brandy modeled during the photo shoot task after the models didn’t show up, Clint thought this was risky. Eric Trump showed up to check up on the team. He thought it was good that Brandy was modeling but thought it might take up too much of her time from her other tasks. He also thought the sexy ads might be a bit too much for the Trump image.
The teams presented their ads to the Trump and Macy’s judges. Octane’s Brandy was nervous and didn’t present the ad with the right name and messed up a few other times. Fortitude’s David just winged it. The judges liked Octane’s ad but thought the presentation could have gone better. This was the opposite for Fortitude where the presentation was good but they thought some of the images in the ad were a bit off.
In the boardroom. Clint liked working with Liza and Brandy and said Steuart embodied the Trump image of wealth, power and sexual prowess. Of which Mr. Trump said the latter was the most important. Cue everyone to agree. Anand said David could be gay because of how he acted around the male model. Trump said there was nothing wrong with being gay and knew men who were married for 20 years turn out to be gay. He then asked David if he was gay and David said no. Then David said he would take full responsibility for his ad if they lost. The teams looked at each other’s ads and said there were pros and cons about each.
The winner was Octane and the Macy’s exec liked the ad so much they were going to use it. As winning project manager Brandy would meet with Macy’s head Terry Lundgren. Didn’t she already meet with him?
Back in the boardroom Poppy said that David’s leadership was like a dictatorship. Stephanie said David should be fired because he didn’t manage the task well. Anand defended Stephanie and Poppy and told Trump that they were just executing David’s “clear orders.” Anand also said David didn’t listen to his ideas. David chose to let Anand be safe and Anand left the boardroom. Trump pointed out that David was the boss and the final product decision was his to make. So David… you’re fired!
David thanked Donald Trump graciously and left the building.
Next week: The teams have to create store displays for Kim Kardashian’s new fragrance.
