Growing up in Brooklyn, it hasn’t always been culturally diverse or even sought after for its superb performing arts ability. But with the current revamping that’s undergoing Downtown Brooklyn, it’s no wonder the arts are in full bloom.
Brooklyn Ballet, after moving into its new home in The Schermerhorn, located at 160 Schermerhorn Street, is providing training and performance opportunities.
The school has already awarded over 30 talented pupils with ballet training and scholarships. Elevate, the Ballet’s public education program, attracts hundreds of eager children yearly.
“It makes me feel like I can do anything when I’m up there”, says John Michael, a Brooklyn Ballet student.
The Ballet school strives on the continued efforts of the scholarship to support the talented. Brooklyn Ballet provides in-school residencies for Brooklyn public school children who otherwise suffer due to the Department of Education’s budget cuts.
