With everyone concerned about the environment, more and more people are trying to go green. One of the best ways to go green is to buy a biodiesel vehicle. Biodiesel vehicles, besides being put through the same ratings and reviews as all other cars, also get a green rating. A green rating measures how environmentally friendly the car really is, according to Yahoo. They are rated on a scale from 1 to 100, with the higher the green rating, the more environmentally friendly the car is. Here are the top five biodiesel vehicles out there today.
1.2010 Volkswagen Golf 2.0L 4 Door TDI
With a green rating of 72, the Volkswagen Golf is the most environmentally friendly vehicle on the market. It’s a compact car that gets 30 city miles and 41 highway models. It costs about $22,760 to own and is consistently rated well by both experts and owners of this vehicle.
2.2010 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen TDI
The 2010 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen received a green rating of 71, and is the perfect station wagon for your family. At $24,615, this vehicle is a steal because of the amount of money that you’ll save on gas. It gets 30 city miles to the gallon, and 41 highway, all while having enough room for everybody in your family.
3. 2010 Volkswagen Jetta Sedan
The top two biodiesel vehicles have both been Volkswagens and so is the third top biodiesel vehicle. The Volkswagen Jetta Sedan costs about $22,830 and besides being a great looking car, it is also very environmentally friendly as well. It gets a green rating of 71, and gets 30 city miles to 41 highway miles.
4.2011 Mercedes-Benz M-Class ML350 BlueTEC
As far as SUVs go the Mercedes-Benz M-CLASS ML350 BlueTEC is on the expensive side, at $50,490, but gets a good green rating of about 53. This is the most environmentally friendly SUV out there. While it gets only 18 city miles to 25 highway miles, it makes up for what it lacks in fuel efficiency in its features. So if you’re looking for a larger vehicle while still being somewhat environmentally friendly and taking biodiesel then this is the SUV for you.
5.2011 Mercedes-Benz R-Class R350 BlueTEC 4MATIC
This station wagon gets a green rating of 52 and gets 18 city miles to 24 highway miles. It costs around $51,750 and is an expensive option compared to the Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen. But if luxury is what you’re looking for then this out does the competition.
