Bicycle Barn is locally owned and has been in business since 1974 and I believe has always been at it’s present location on East Isaacs St. It is housed in a building that fits it’s name and look like a barn.
Allegro is downtown. It’s address being the corner of Main ST. and Spokane St. It has been in business for a short time about 4 years. Allegro is a full-service bike shop: They offer free bike clinics given by the shop’s manager and mechanic. Sometimes these clinics take place in the shop, some at other places.
It is fun and interesting to peruse the bike offerings at Alegro. My son and I have looked over the offerings of, Orbea, Kona, Phat, Dk, Giant, Jamis, Comotion, and Boomer bikes. There is the type of bike here any enthusiast or basic rider could want and they are displayed so tantalizingly. From electric bikes:(Boomer) to budget minded: (Giant) there is a great range to be had here. Spend time just looking them over.
Allegro also offers bike accessories: Apparel, eye-wear, helmets, and footwear of different styles and brands.
Of course being a full service shop, here we find bike mechanic services as well as replacement parts.
They have bike rentals-of which friend of ours used when visiting us- a free newsletter and local rides.
Though we have been involved 2nd hand in renting from Allegro and have spent time looking around the shop, all of our bikes (including my 14 year old’s) have been purchased through Bicycle Barn. I guess we just like supporting the “old standby.” We purchased Bikes for each child my husband and myself here. My son has also bought two extra bikes at Bicycle barn so we have quite experience here.It is also a full service shop of which we have had to have replacement parts put on bikes and mechanic work done.
The barn offers different bikes than Allegro. ( I think this was done on purpose to benefit both shops and the area.) The offerings you will discover here are as diverse as the other shops brands: Trek, Red line, Mirraco, We the People and a specialized line for the extremely serious biker. Again there are bike’s here to fit every need.
Each bike comes with a tuneup and guarantee. You can find a myriad of gear to complete your setup. The staff helps fit your bike to you and allows you to try the bike out up the street. This shop really knows their stuff and also offers training and group riding for fun.
In summary each shop offers great selection, many benefits, service, fun shopping and browsing all in the small town of Walla Walla.
