Bowling is big, it was years ago and it is again. It’s a game that almost anyone can play, which is one reason for its popularity. You don’t have to have your own equipment. If you can stand to put your feet into rental shoes, it’s a fairly reasonable evening out. Last Friday, September 3rd, The Bowling Factory opened in Bradley County, Cleveland, Tennessee. People who hit the lanes over Labor Day weekend seemed to enjoy it.
The ‘new’ bowling alley, The Bowling Factory, is in the building that used to house Galaxy Bowling North Lee, 5375 North Lee Highway, Cleveland, TN. Dewayne Williams had been the general manager of the Galaxy for 3 years. With 28 years of experience in the ‘family entertainment business’ he knew that Cleveland needed a place where kids and families could go for a fun time. The high schools have bowling teams, and they need a place to practice. Throwing frozen turkeys down the aisle at the grocery store, trying to knock over soda bottles, only works in the movies!
Lots of people use bowling alleys such as church organization, people hold reunions and birthday parties at bowling establishments. Bowling is not only fun, its good exercise. I had parents who were avid bowlers. They were on leagues and took it very seriously. My father was a very good bowler. Unfortunately, I inherited his crooked teeth but not his bowling skills. I still enjoyed the game, and it may be time to try out this new place where no one knows me!
The Bowling Factory is open from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm Monday through Thursday; Friday it stays open until midnight; Saturday noon to midnight and Sunday they are open from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The cost of games ranges from $2.00 to $4.50. There is a former pro bowler on staff. The Bowling Factory plans on having lessons available shortly and leagues are currently being formed.
We are talking big time bowling here folks, there are 12 alleys! The building has been repaired and/or cleaned up and the new owners, Dwayne and his wife Karen, put in an arcade area. In all seriousness, I think The Bowling Factory will strike it big in Cleveland, Tennessee! So, if you have some spare time, head on over and join in on the fun and let the pins fall where they will!
