Cat lovers of all kinds will be uniting on Nov. 6 and 7 at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. Santa Clara Valley Cat Fanciers and the Poppy State Cat Club are hosting a CFA All Breed Cat Show. The show will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days and is open to the public.
There will be cats of all kinds, including the adorable hairless ones made popular by the Austin Powers movies. Vendors will also be on-site selling the cat supplies and accessories that you can’t find everywhere. This show is a must see for anyone who knows the joy of having a purring cat nuzzle your ear.
Do you wish you could enter Snowball in the show? If you have a feline that you think is show worthy, it is not too late to enter online. Entries will be accepted until Oct. 31 or when they reach 225 entries, whichever is earlier. The online form can be a little intimidating to regular cat owners like myself, but don’t let it scare you. Those entering household pets do not need to fill in the registration number, color class, sire, dam or breeder fields.
Organizers do ask that cats entered in the show are current on vaccinations, in general good health and have their claws clipped, but they must not be de-clawed and cannot be younger than 4 months old. Check-in for entries will be from 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. on show days, and there are entry fees required for participation.
For the general public, admission to the show will be $7 for adults and $5 for children, military personnel and seniors. There is a special “family of three” admission price of $15. Children ages 5 and under are free. The Santa Clara County Fairgrounds are located at 344 Tully Road in San Jose, California. The show will be located in the Pavilion Hall at the Fairgrounds.
