According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, International Coffee & Tea, LLC, (doing business as The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf) of Los Angeles, CA, has voluntarily recalled one of their products. This recall was released September 16, 2010.
What is being recalled?
Approximately 1,600 teapots are included in this recall.
What’s the problem?
The tea sets have metallic decorations on the sides that can spark if heated in the microwave. If this happens, it could start a fire. While there have been no reported injuries, one customer stated that their tea cup sparked in the microwave.
Which specific teapots are involved in this recall?
This recall is for the Tea For One “Flourish” design tea pot set. This set is a stackable teapot and cup made with white ceramic. The pieces have matching metallic foil designs on them. The bottom of the tea cup is printed with “Dishwasher and microwave safe” and “Made in China,” in English and French. The set was sold at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf stores in California, Arizona, and Nevada for about $12, and also at coffeebean.com for about $10.
