There are many seasonal farmers’ markets in New York, but The Commons Brooklyn recently opened a year-round market on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill. Foodshed market has a large selection and aims at educating the public about sustainable foods.
This indoor market has regional produce, meat, eggs and breads. You can also pick up yogurt, ice cream, cheese, sauces and even jam. The Foodshed has a little bit of everything and there is even signage that tells shoppers where their food came from.
Proceeds from the market help run The Commons Brooklyn, an educational and community center.
The Foodshed is located at 388 Atlantic Avenue between Hoyt and Bond. It is open Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
