It is natural for some to become cynical when the good amongst us hits roadblocks, while the evil runs away with the spoils! Even the most pious casts doubts whether anyone is keeping track of the “sacrifices” they make in being good, while the less worthy could get away scot-free after “enjoying” their time at others’ cost! Of course, some do make about-turns along the way, but most stick to their guns right through in their beliefs; some are circumspect in their actions while others have a devil-may-care attitude.
The big issue could be justice is not generally dispensed, then and there, in our lives. Yes, we have societal rule of law, but many get away by taking advantage of the grey areas. The majority lives by fair-play, conscience and hardly takes undue advantage to get ahead in personal dealings and working lives. They want to play along with a clear conscience; why live with guilt and burden ourselves? My personal take is we will have to pay the price for enjoying what is not rightfully due, at some point, not necessarily during our time on this planet; also, we will get rewarded for not receiving our rightful dues. Our life will have some meaning at the end of the day, but we cannot understand its full import in our present state of being.
Of course, beliefs differ, but it is natural for everyone to ponder the purpose of life, every now and then. We know something is missing: why be born at all, we cannot choose our parents, and our children could be quite different if we are married to some one else. Even, we could have changed over time in different settings. Our attitudes change every five years or so, as we react to circumstances, health, wealth etc. In a way, it is a fair deal as wealth by itself does not assure security; a poor man in a village in a remote land can feel much more secure with a loving family than a billionaire, worrying to get even ahead, or worse, how to safeguard what he has already got! Even close family members could be salivating at the prospect of inheritance! They are just too many flies hovering over a honey pot!
The creator cannot present himself in our midst for many reasons. Some could take umbrage directly at their position in life; how unfair the whole life has turned out for them! But, just look around to feel His presence every moment. No single moment is same; forget our planet, the whole universe, and maybe even beyond, is dynamic! It is for us to paint on the vast canvas! We can leave our indelible footprints, hopefully positive ones to overwhelm the negatives that some are bent upon to inflict. It is natural for us to improve on what we have got; most, at least take care not to inflict damage!
Nature reinvents itself every moment to make life enduring. Humans create havoc with our insatiable appetites; what has been accumulated over billions of years is being gorged at an increasing pace, with no thought for tomorrow! But nature rebalances itself to such an extent that few question the climate change issue altogether! If we use-up the fossil fuel resources so thoughtfully accumulated for our sustenance, we have renewable ones that can replace them with a bit of ingenuity on our part; of course, not served on a plate. That could make an idle mind a real devil’s workshop; we already see some effects through our pre-occupation and fascination with modern gadgetry that eat into enduring value systems that have sustained us over countless generations. What is more than essential tends to isolate us from reality and society!
We should realize the Creator’s presence every moment through nature, the birth and even death; all are accounted for, and even disposed-off without a whiff of evidence & recycled over time! We are given a fair deal; even the disadvantaged can find meaningful lives. There are enough good amongst us to lend helping hands to even their chances for survival and meaningful lives. Despite the presence of some evil, the good rules the terrain with some ingenuity, of course. Let us thank the Creator for his munificence, and at the same time, show our appreciation through our concerted efforts to preserve the wealth given us for the future, so that they have a fair chance like we had! Each can do but little, but if each does that little, everything will be done! In fact, we should do more than our fair share, as there are many slackers in our midst; worse, some who willfully destroy even!!
