“My strength is made perfect in weakness.” “God Calling” today reminds us of this. For me, this weakness often reveals itself only in that eleventh hour. The eleventh hour isn’t always the one just before it’s all over. Sometimes the eleventh hour is right when it all begins for you; when you get the revelation you need to show you where you are and what you need to do to lift yourself, to free yourself; to stretch yourself.
That revelation can come in many forms. You might catch a glimpse of someone in your mirror that you don’t recognize. There may be an ultimatum-this can be legitimate or not. You might receive a threat that is an attempt to manipulate you; to coerce you. Something will “click” a light on and make you ask “Where am I? What am I doing?” You realize that you’re standing on a treadmill and you’ve been going nowhere in the dark all this time. That revelation is the life preserver God throws you. That revelation is the window you dive out of, even if it’s pouring rain outside. That revelation brings you to the end of your “self”. It brings you to the end of the independent and strong “superhero” you.
When you can walk away from everything you’ve got, you didn’t have anything to begin with. When the hell you have to go through on your way to where you going looks like a walk in the park compared to where you are now, you’ve had a revelation from the “eleventh hour” God. When any amount of pain you might have to suffer to get back to your peace is worth it, you know that God is holding your hand; and that’s when freedom happens. That’s when His strength comes, and that’s when passion finds its purpose-with your hand in His.
God knows how to use each “thorn”, each trial and tribulation we go through to perfect His strength in us. His strength doesn’t need to be perfected; but how we use His strength and that we use His strength does. There’s a saying: “Practice makes perfect.” When you realize all that is to be gained in that perfection of His strength in us, it makes it possible for us to see the opportunity each thorn, trial and tribulation brings to turn to Him and grow in that strength.
