With a collective 19 Emmy nominations, the Glee cast members are a huge presence at the 2010 Emmy Awards. Unlike many veteran stars spotted on the red carpet, the Glee cast are all famous solely for their roles on Glee. However, their Glee roles are enough to make them some of the stars that I’m most excited to see.
Lea Michele is out on the Red Carpet to the Emmy Awards. Michele plays Rachel Berry on the show. In Glee her talented if slightly obnoxious character has been described as dressing like both “a toddler” and “grandmother”-at the same time. On the red carpet, Michele managed to distinguish herself from her Glee character. She has thick, straight bangs and her hair is down and looks very thick. The most noticeable part of her outfit is the absolutely huge necklace. It is major bling and sparkly, but manages to be somehow sophisticated as well. She’s wearing it with a navy dress that is elegant and perfectly matched by her eyeshadow. The dress is Oscar de la Renta. The top is simple, but the bottom has a huge ruffle. Today is Michele’s 24th birthday, so this is a major birthday party for her. She looks very smiley, and also tiny. I don’t know if she’s really lost that much weight since the last season of Glee was filmed, or if it’s because of the way Glee dresses and films her, but she looks much tinier on the red carpet than she does on the show. Her waist is absolutely tiny.
Another actress who manages to really distinguish her real-life appearance from her Glee look is Jenna Ushkowitz. On the show we know her as Tina Cohen-Chang, Glee club member and goth. In real life she looks happy and vibrant. She’s wearing a vibrant red dress. The dress is very flowing with some draping in the front. I like the color on her, but I think it could have been slightly more fitted.
Fellow cast member Cory Monteith also looked good on th red carpet. It’s harder for the boys to distinguish themselves on the Red carpet, but Monteith looks good in an understated but excelled tux suit. He, like co cast member Chris Colfer, chose to wear a black tie instead of bow tie. This gives him a more age-appropriate look. He is instantly recognizable, but looks older and more sophisticated than his Glee character.
In an absolutely kooky way, Glee cast member Kevin McHale was completely endearing on the red carpet. Unlike his Glee character Artie Abrams, McHale is not actually in a wheelchair. He showed up on the red carpet in a tux with a mustard yellow bow tie and big chunky black glasses. His hair is slicked over to the side. I can’t say that he looks handsome, but I want to be his friend.
