People are making a big deal of the fact that Four Loko is under-fire and in the process of becoming banned by the FDA, but, if people stopped and thought for a second they would realize that they could just make their own “four-lokoish” drink in a variety of ways: extraction, a coffee mix, or caffeine pills.
Now, I say four-lokoish because, in all reality, no one really cares about the other two ingredients (i.e. the taurine and guarana); they essentially do nothing. So, you would be creating a “two-loko” drink. In any case, creating your own is not that difficult: you take what four loko, now one loko, or whatever alcoholic drink gives you and add caffeine extracted from the coffee in your local cafeteria or from Starbucks. Okay, I embellished a little it is hard to extract caffeine without thorough knowledge of first semester Organic Chemistry (and even with that there are certain complications that can arise). Hence, the other two methods are perhaps more useful.
If you do not want to spend your time extracting and dealing with fun chemicals you can just mix coffee with alcohol. I have never tried this so I do not know exactly how it tastes, but my intuition is telling me that it probably does not taste very good. Therefore, I would try the third method to create a four-lokoish drink.
The final method I can think of for creating a four-lokoish drink is to obtain caffeine pills from Amazon.com or some place that sells vitamins exclusively and simply add them to your alcoholic beverage. Do not go crazy by adding a lot of caffeine because, if you add one to two kilos or so, you can die (there are a lot of biological responses which lead to this unfortunate result; they are beyond the scope of this article so I will not delve into them).
Do not worry. Four-lokoish drinks are here to stay. Note: this is not an endorsement. This is merely a statement of fact.
