Brooklyn is legendary as a home of dog owners. Leave it to Clinton Hill and Fort Greene to host an annual Halloween themed event celebrating our four legged companions. According to ClintonHillBlog.com (1) “The Great Pupkin, 2010” is the event and it will be moving into its 12th year. This annual event and the event is hosted by Fort Greene PUPS and the Fort Greene Park Conservancy.
Fort Greene PUPS is the “Park Users and Pets Society,” and was formed in 1999 when “a few people saw the need to band together the dog owners that frequented Fort Greene Park to help keep off-leash rules legal in the park,” according to their website (2). What began as 50 is now 400 strong and growing all the time.
ClintonHillBlog.com is as excited as ever about this event which draws out “the official Westminster Dog Show photographers, Wild Coyote Studios” to take pictures which normally run upwards of $475. The suggested donation for time and materials is $25 but Wild Coyote Studios is turning around and donating all proceeds back to Fort Greene PUPS.
It’s a fun time whether or not you have a dog. The event’s going on October 30 from noon to 1PM in Fort Greene Park.
