Sometimes the planets align and all is right with the universe and such was the case tonight when judges and fans agreed that “The Hoff” can’t dance. David Hasselhoff, star of hit shows Knight Rider and Bay Watch signed on to Dancing with the Stars at the request of his daughters who are fans of the show. After just one Cha Cha Cha, the fans had enough.
The other low-scoring contestants, Margaret Cho, The Situation and Michael Bolton all breathed a sigh of relief and promised to dance better next week. We shall see
Tonight’s elimination show was loaded with musical guests. Santana was the guest artist, who gave outstanding performances of Oye Como Va. Later Santana was joined by India Arie for a rendition of Still My Guitar Gently Weeps. Special guest, Grammy nominated Daughtry sang September and then teamed up with Santana for Photograph.
The diversity of musical performers gave the professional dancers a wide range of styles with which to show off their talents. The professionals paired with each other is reason enough to watch an elimination show. What they do with their celebrity partners is amazing but when they dance together there is magic in the air.
Adam Carolla made an appearance as an investigative reporter researching the origins of the dances done on the show. His unique angle gave an interesting perspective that fans probably had not considered before.
Next week brings the Jive and Quickstep and a whole new set of steps to learn, aching muscles to tend and nerves to calm. Check back for frequent DWTS updates.
