The holidays can be a very lonely time for those not in a relationship. During the holidays, everyone wants somebody to love. However, sometimes the consequences of our loved one’s decisions or ours can change all of that. Whether you are a man, who recently broke up with his girlfriend or a woman who has suddenly found herself single, this article is for you. We have six do and don’t rules that pertain to the holiday season. Following these rules can make any breakup during the holidays a little bit easier.
1. When Breaking Up During the Holidays Watch Your Time
What we mean is that you need to spend as much time away from your ex and invest it with your family and friends. The holiday season is the perfect time to catch up with those you only see once a year. Use the time to get yourself reacquainted with those who you may have forgotten.
2. Keep Moving After Your Holiday Breakup
Now is the time to get out of bed, quit feeling sorry for yourself, and start hitting the gym. Exercising and staying physical will help you maintain not only your figure but will help your mental state as well. The holiday season allows you the extra time that you can invest in getting to your health goals.
3. Saving More Money After Your Holiday Breakup
There should be more money in your pocket after a holiday breakup. Spend that holiday money that would have gone to your ex and give a special gift to a family member. Take some of your extra money and give it to a worthy charity cause.
4. Avoid Committing Social Suicide After a Holiday Breakup
Social suicide is a dangerous option for many after a holiday breakup. It usually involves going out and consuming too much alcohol and maybe getting either kicked out of a bar or going home with someone you met at the bar. This usually just ends up badly for you and your ex will wonder why you drunk text them about how you hate them.
5. Watch Your Diet After a Holiday Breakup
Food and overeating can be your enemy especially after a holiday breakup. Remember to control yourself and don’t overeat. The holidays are a time when temptation is all around and a breakup during the holidays can give you a reason to overindulge. Take this time to remember that it is probably a better decision to invest that time in getting yourself in shape.
6. Don’t Follow or Stalk Your Ex After a Holiday Breakup
Communication with your ex is something you need to avoid especially during a holiday breakup. You cannot Facebook, text, blog or call your ex after a holiday breakup. Doing so will only create mixed signals to them and you take away the opportunity for a clean break. Avoid the temptation and keep yourself busy with other activities with friends and family during the holidays.
