Using Knitmap.com, the only local yarn shop (LYS) pinpointed in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, is The Knaughty Knitter. The shop is easily found at 423 North Walnut, Street, just a few blocks from the square.
The Knaughty Knitter
The Knaughty Knitter is owned by Meredith and Doyle. The shop is easily found in happy yellow paint with a wild-haired beauty on the sign on the house. The tree out front sports a face, and the porch hosts a lovely olden spinning wheel.
The little yellow house has 3 rooms stuffed with yarn. As you enter, you are greeted by Meredith in a room full of yarn goodies. Buttons and knit markers, needles and hooks, and other important gadgets line the walls of this room.
The other front room also has yarn. It also has spinning supplies, wool, a table loom, and many examples of hand knitted items. This room also has books, magazines (both current and past editions), and leaflets.
The back room fairly explodes with color! In addition to many skeins of wonderful yarn, the table is set for groups to knit. The clearance yarns on the back shelf always beckon to me as well.
Yarn to Go
If you are looking for something special, you are bound to find it at the Knaughty Knitter! Frog Tree yarn, which is a fair-trade yarn from S. America, can be found here. Meredith also spins and dyes yarn, so you are likely to find some things you won’t find anywhere else. In addition, she offers spinning supplies.
Besides the unusual, she carries well-known yarn shop yarns like Berroco, Crystal Palace, Cascade, Plymouth, and Reynolds to name a few. From alpaca to acrylic, cotton to linen, silk to wool, you will find something to take home from the Knaughty Knitter.
Groups and Help
Groups meet regularly around the table in the back room. Many classes are also offered. Class members are urged to buy supplies (and patterns, if necessary) at the store so that the project turns out the way it should. Check the web site for times and offerings.
