Hawaii Five-O is one of the most anticipated shows of the new CBS Fall Lineup. The show is full of gorgeous actors, hot scenery, and an incredible theme song. All three can be checked out here. But will it live up to the hype?
The original Hawaii Five-O
Hawaii Five-O, is a remake of a classic TV show. It stared Jack Lord, James Mac Arthur, and Kam Fong. For those too young to remember the original show, like myself, it premiered in 1968. The plot was simple. Five-O was an elite branch of the Hawaii State Police. They answered only to the Governor. Their main purpose was to fight organized crime on Hawaii. Throughout TV land Hawaii Five-o is known for 2 things. OK 3 things. One is the amazing theme song. I have never seen a single episode of the original series, but I know the theme song. It is the epitome of surf music. The second is the iconic statement. Before Dirty Harry said, “Go ahead make my day, punk.” McGarrett said,”Book’em Danno.”. The third thing the show is known for is, it ‘s set in Hawaii. You are guaranteed incredible views.
The New Hawaii Five-O
The new Hawaii Five-O stars Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim, and Grace Park. The plot is similar. Five-O is an elite crime fighting task force. The reasons each is on the team is different. McGarrett is there to fill in for his murdered father, and of course to solve the crime. In this installment, McGarrett has full authority and no red tape. The show appears to be grittier than the original and much sexier.
I have watched the title sequence for Hawaii Five-O. It’s very sleek and sexy. The music is awsome. I’ve also watched the promos. It looks promising. The question remains. Will Hawaii Five-O live up to the hype, or will it jump the shark? Watch the premier Monday, September 20,2010. The show airs on CBS at 9/10pm.
