Ereca’s long silky blonde hair ran down the middle of her back. Her eyes were piercing blue and her smile was breathtaking. Walking into the building the smell of fresh paint still hovered around the students as they ascended into the hallways. The excitement of medical school was buzzing amongst the students, faculty and staff eager to get the year underway. As the students walked by the front security desk, Russ looked at each one taking in every detailed flaw ensuring that each had their id badge upon them.
“Hey!” Russ’s loud booming voice grabs the attention of Ereca. She spins around hoping that he wasn’t speaking to her. “Yes, you!” He points his finger in her direction. Ereca slowly walks over to his desk as he extends out his hand and places her badge onto her delicate fingers.
“Oh, I guess I dropped that, silly me” as she chuckles and tries to slide away and head toward her anatomy class, she tucks the badge into her book bag.
Russ places a frown upon his etched face, “You don’t want someone to steal your identity now do you?” He laughs in a way that Ereca wasn’t sure whether to laugh or to be afraid.
She opens the door to her classroom. Ereca sits down in her lecture hall as her professor goes over what to expect for the year, dates on exams and when her lab time will be for dissection of the cadavers. Professor Fisher explains that the body donor program was not well established yet, so the bodies donated were from local homeless shelters of bodies that could not be identified, therefore there would be larger groups working together on dissection. Her thoughts start to trail off as Professor Fisher begins to lecture about the structure of the body.
The look of the security guard, Russ, could not leave the vision impressed into Ereca’s mind. There was something dark about him, it lured her deeper into a thought process of wanting to know more about him. There was a scar just under his right eye, deeply pressed into his cheek bone as if someone had taken a beating to his tanned hide. His eyes were black as night, even his pupils were not visible making him look inhuman. The intensity of her thought was overcoming her surroundings. Just as her heart started to beat faster there was a tap on the window of the door to the classroom.
Ereca jumps up from her trance to notice Russ looking into the classroom at her. She glances around to see if anyone else notices his stature. Turning back to the window she awakens to the consideration that perhaps it was all in her imagination as Russ was no longer standing at the window pane. The room becomes loud as the students stand up from their desks and start to walk out the door towards the anatomy lab. In a daze Ereca begins her descent to her anatomy lab.
Slowly walking down the narrow hallway, she hears a whisper. “Ereca….Ereca” her heightened emotions begin to set it and she jumps around seeing nobody. “Ereca….in here! I am in here!” The voices become louder and louder as she gets closer to the anatomy door. Placing her hand on the doorknob of the lab, she takes a deep breath hesitating to open the doors in fear of what she might see.
The door opens abruptly as a student walks out. Ereca surprised takes a leap back from the door but manages to put herself into the arctic cold room. Gurneys spread across the room all with a cadaver laying stiff upon them. Once again Ereca takes a deep breath and releases seeing the breath in front of her. Her classmates are chatting eager to start their dissection.
The beautiful pearly teeth of Ereca was no longer posing a smile but chattering with fear. Her eyes dimmed grey with less sparkle. Once again the sounds start to whisper. “Ereca….Ereca…” She notices that nobody else was hearing these voices, it was only her. Walking closer to her group, she looks down to the body. Quickly the eyes of the cadaver pierce open staring right at Ereca. The group jumps with terror. Professor Fisher hastily explains that the bodies still can have muscle movement, but there is nothing to fear. Still nervous about the whisper’s Ereca refrains from getting closer to the body. Just as she is about to walk a step away she feels a grab at her wrist. Thinking it was a classmate Ereca turns to her left and then when there is nobody standing to her left, she looks down to notice that it was the hand of the cadaver.
“Ereca…I was killed by Russ! Watch out…you are next!” Distinctly she hears this message and sees the mouth of the cadaver speaking to her. In pure fright, she screams and looks out the door to see no other but Russ watching over her.
