Many Royal Oak residents are puzzled by the almost 1,900 parking tickets handed out during the festival this past weekend. The police are attempting to correct the problem as they say many were issued that weren’t valid. The police department is going on a case by case basis to try and rectify the problem, but many residents are troubled by the inconvenience this is causing them.
Apparently some of the officers that were issuing the tickets were not sure of the exact zones, while other people say that they simply did not see the zoning signs. While this is the first year the Arts, Beats & Eats was hosted by Royal Oak, they hope that next year will go off without a hitch. The police department is working on each case individually and those to be found not valid are being dismissed. The police department is asking anyone who feels they have received a ticket that didn’t deserve one to come down to the station so they can review the issue.
