All voices are silent
the fireflies no longer glow
even the ocean has no sound
and the woods are as still as stone.
Is there no life?
What has happened here?
Looking around I see nothing
just an emptiness.
No storms and of course no rain
No laughter and no glee
not a soul could be found
it was just like a place inside of me.
Still there was no sound of birds
soaring on the breeze
awe – no wind for that matter
and no footprints among the leaves.
Oh, how I wish this silence would soon end
but it continued as if life was paused
nothing breathed and nothing stirred
like shadows frozen on silent walls.
