Often I don’t like what I see when I look into the mirror. I don’t like what I say when I hear my voice. I turn away when I see my action. I want to be honey but it seems I am vinegar.
Psalm 139:14 (NIV) I praise you because I am wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. I know that well.
God, thank you for making me the way I am. Pardon me when I don’t seem to understand, who I am and what purpose I have to fulfill in life. Forgive me, when I apologize for being me, Lord. I thank you for having me in mind when you created me Lord. I will praise you for who I am.
Genesis 1:27 (NIV) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God. In the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Genesis1:31 (NIV) God saw all that he had made and it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning – the sixth day.
Again, thank you God. Thank you for making me a woman and calling the creation of me very good. Father, whenever I look in the mirror I see an image of you. Help me to see this more and more every day. This will keep me from beating myself up for who I am. I praise you for making me awesome.
Genesis 2:7 (NIV) Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living being.
Lord you didn’t just speak me in existence. You took your time to form me. I was in your hand and I can feel how much work you have put in me.
2 Timothy 2:19 (NIV) The Lord knows who are his…
Lord, like a painter you have initialed your work. Like a potter you have engraved your name in the pot .Like a manufacture you have labeled me with your brand. So everyone knows that I belong to you. Who can be against us when you are with us?
2 Timothy 2:20-21 (The Message) In a well furnished kitchen there are not only crystal goblets and silver platters, but waste cans and compost buckets – some containers used to serve fine meals, others to take out the garbage. Become the kind of container God can use to present any and every kind of gift to his guests for their blessing.
Creator of Heaven and Earth who am I to judge you for the way you made me? Wasn’t it a simple unknown man who built the manger where the savior has been born? What amazing purpose this person had? Lord, help me to understand the design of me, so I can be the bucket you want me to be. If it is the waste bucket I will carry the trash out gladly. If it is the silver platter I will present your meals proudly. I just want to be the way you want me to be. That is all I can ask for.
Isaiah 45:9 (NIV) What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with it’s maker? Does the clay dispute the one who shapes it, saying stop you are doing wrong! Does the pot exclaim How clumsy can you be.
Romans 9:20-22 (TNIV) But who are you, a mere human being, to talk back to God? Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, “Why did you make me like this. Does not the potter has the right to make out the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for disposal of refuse.
Isaiah 29:15 (The Message) … You have everything backward. You treat the potter as a lump of clay. Does a book say to his author, “He didn’t write a word of me.”? Does a meal say to the women who cooked it, “She had nothing to do with this
God again forgive me when I didn’t acknowledge that you made me the way I am, when I refused to give you credit for my purpose in life, when I doubted that you made this part of me or when I thought that I had no value at all. Every pot falls from time to time and get cracked but you know all my cracks and you will fix it with care so I can always be of use and value to you. Thank you.
Jeremiah 18:4 (TNIV) But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands, so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping as it seemed best to him.
Even when I am totally destroyed, broken and devalued I still have value because I am your clay. It will open new possibilities and new purposes and even new shapes. You can make a total different pot out of me just as you please. In you my Lord I have always purpose. And I thank you for that.
