Once there was a pumpkin named Joy who was proudly displayed with twenty others. He was glad to be with his friends. They laughed and talked about how good they would look when they were taken to someones home and the joy they would bring.
One by one they were taken home by a family eager to show them off and join in the family fun. As they were taken one child accidently knicked Joy and he didn’t look like the other pumpkins. They were smooth and ready to be shown. Instead he was left alone.
Joy cried as he wondered why he was ever called Joy. He didn’t feel very joyful. He was the last pumpkin! It was late afternoon on Halloween. He knew he would probably be thrown out since no one wanted him.
As he was about to give up and his eyes were closed dreading the future, a child who couldn’t walk, and had a hard time talking, and taking care of himself was so excited!
” Look mom! This pumpkin is like me!! He isn’t perfect. I have never seen any pumpkin that is just right for me! He is beautiful!”
Joy opened his eyes and saw a wonderful little boy and fell in love with him.The boy almost cried with joy knowing he had found just the right pumpkin!
Moral- Everyone has a purpose. Sometimes we won’t be the first picked or have the success we want- yet we DO have a purpose.
You might have other ideas about the moral. Would love to hear them.
