Yet another article about teachers who sleep with their students. But I often have to wonder just what lessons these teachers are giving their students at the end of the day. Consider the story of Kimme Woolf , a 29 year old teacher. She gave into two young students after repeatedly being pressured by them. It makes me wonder just how mature these teachers are and what attracts them to the profession to begin with. I know 29 year old women who regularly take up with men that are much younger than they are. It is absolutely nothing for them to be with a 21 year old man, so a young, fresh faced 18 year old does not seem to be that much of a stretch.
I have noticed a few things though in all of this. The first is that these women do not seem to be that mature themselves. They may actually enjoy that a 21 year old or even an 18 year old does, watch the same movies that they do, listen to the same records. Even though they are 29 years old, they act a lot younger than their age and may be holding on their youth unknowingly.
I have often wondered just what people see in younger individuals. I never found younger women to be attractive past two or three years. If anything I would prefer to be with someone a bit older than I am, if I were to go for the whole “age difference” thing at all. The maturity differences between a woman who is just a year or two younger than I am, and someone who is five or ten years younger than I am is astounding. When I was 16, a 24 year old woman seemed out of reach. These days a 24 year old woman seems to have the maturity of a 16 year old. I cannot wrap my head around the idea that people are even in relationships where there are severe age differences at all.
But I do not necessarily think that Kimmie Woolf fits the definition of someone who is emotionally disturbed either. The way that I see it she may have already been interested in young men. If young men get the idea that women in positions of authority are there for the taking, it not only undermines their authority, but sets women back a century. Everything that women have fought over the years through the feminist movement is undone and becomes unraveled. The first authority figure that a man has in his life is his Mother, and his teacher probably comes in a distant second. Therefore teachers should be part of the problem, not part of the solution. The same goes for male teachers that take up with their younger female students. Teachers provide instruction in various ways, part of which involves their relationship with those that they are teaching. When the relationship becomes inappropriate, teachers are part of the problem, not part of the solution.
As prevalent as this problem has become, teachers should undergo some sort of evaluation before they set foot in the classroom. You have to love it when a person has to pass some type of psychiatric screening to work in the department store or at a toy store, but no one does anything to get a feel for the type of individual an educator might be. Do educators have an equivalent of a Hippocratic Oath? Teachers should be looking for people that they are equally yoked to develop relationships with, not students that are not on their emotional and intellectual level. One has to wonder if teachers and educators are not on the emotional and intellectual level that we like to think they’re on …
