The Shallow in The Deep, Season 6, Episode 6
They get me every time! As soon as this “Bones” episode starts with Bones at Booth’s apartment, I start to get all excited that this means that Bones and Booth have finally gotten together! But alas, the writers are just toying with all our emotions once again, as every fan patiently waits for that day to come. Bones and Booth start the episode with some quick back and forth about Booth’s many injuries and then surprise surprise, they walk in on Daisy and Dr. Sweets getting it on! It seems like everybody is hooking up on this show except for the two everyone wants to the most!
The case that they are given is identifying numerous slaves who were found in a sunken ship. But along with those remains is a young man who died fairly recently, and that becomes the priority for the crew at The Jeffersonian. We find that the dead man has stolen the identity of Mike Casper, a middle aged man who upon finding out about the identity theft was steaming mad along with his wife. But the question is; Is this motive for a murder? After some further digging Booth discovers the true identity of the young man to be Liam Maloney, a runaway who was once a foster child.
Bones, Booth, and Dr. Sweets track down another foster child, Hunter Lange who Liam Maloney testified against because he has a motive for murder, and find him working on a Cougar Cruise. Liam was also working on that cruise and now the older women all are suspects in Liam’s murder. When Booth discovers the director of the cruise having sex with a younger man, and maggots in the room, Booth suspects that a body was recently there.
After interviewing the director of the cruise and the cruise’s captain, Booth, Bones, and Dr. Sweets find out that Liam Maloney was last seen with a red head on one of the Cougar Cruises. The red head happens to be Claire Casper, the wife of Mike Casper, who had his identity stolen. Claire eventually confesses to the murder and another case has been solved by the crew.
In the underlying story of the slave ship, one of Cam’s relatives happens to be one of the bodies that was identified. So in the span of an hour not only has the crew solved a murder but managed to give us stories of love and loss. Tune in for more awesome adventures at The Jeffersonian next week.
