Do you own a small business? Do you operate a vending cart or a flea market business? Would you like to be able to take credit card transactions to increase your business sales? Do you think you can’t afford this? Do you own a mobile phone? The new app called Square may be the answer for you.
Jack Dorsey the founder of Twitter has found a new way to change the way the world does business. He and a talented crew came up with the concept that is now known as Square to help small businesses be able to accept credit card payments, even when they are working outside.
How is this done? A business simply goes to: https://squareup.com/ and installs the necessary software onto its mobile phone. Then a small plugged in device is sent to them, free of charge. This plug in device is plugged into your audio jack of your phone. Then you open the software when you are ready to use it. The customer simply signs his or her name with a touch of a finger. They can even add a tip, if they are so inclined. It is that simple.
The software and plug in device can work on almost any phone including the Iphone, the Ipad, an Android Phone, etc. The software is free to download. Once you download it and fill out the necessary information the square team will send you your free plug in credit card reader (swipe tool).
How does the Square Company make money? They do charge a small amount on each transaction, 15 cents plus 2.75 percent compared to 3 to 3.5% that is normally charged by the credit card companies themselves.
Will Square be a hit like Twitter was?
In the initial trial, over 50,000 people signed up for Square across the United Sates.
