Today’s “God Calling” message speaks about the strength in quietness or peace, and the peace in that strength. In my morning prayer, I always thank God for the peace to find strength within myself and the strength to seek His peace in my life. I’m sure that came from this message, as this little devotional has been my companion for a number of years now.
Jesus demonstrated this message when He calmed the storm. Perhaps, that “Peace, be still” was meant just as much for the disciples. They were in quite an uproar. There’s a revelation in that event. When we remain in that peace, in quietness of heart, we have power or strength to cause the turmoil around us to cease. In that peace, we have the power to affect the situation positively. That peace is irresistible and renders the enemy or the storm, the situation or circumstance powerless over us.
It’s only in spending time with Him in worship, prayer, studying His word and exercising or implementing those things I learn from Him and from His Word, that peace and strength grow within. Of course, the more there is within, the more manifests outwardly.
In Jesus, I found peace that does surpass all understanding. I’m no longer shaken in the storm and not afraid of the wind and waves. The strength in that peace is phenomenal. In His peace I have strength to bless instead of curse the one who wrongs me. I have the strength to walk away when what I really want to do is bop someone. That peace is strong enough to enable me to see, not the offense, but the promises of God, the mercy and grace of my Jesus, and the love of my Father in Heaven toward all. As with everything else on this journey, I do better some days than others; so I’m really grateful for the Father’s mercy and grace, and His unfathomable patience.Peace is not something someone can take away from us. We give it away. It’s like stepping out into the rain and putting down or folding up your umbrella. We’re faced with some difficulty or someone offends us, etc. (the rain) and we fold up the umbrella (our peace) and wonder why we’re getting soaked. There’s another way, a better way to give away our peace. That is by sowing it into others we come in contact with, into our surroundings, and of course, in sowing it around us outwardly; we’re watering the peace within our hearts and causing it to grow.
