One part of Thanksgiving we can count on is an excessive amount of calories. It is a holiday all about eating, after all.
One part of Thanksgiving most of us cannot count on, however, is getting any exercise to work off some of those excessive calories.
Luckily for Park Slope folks, as well as anybody living remotely near Prospect Park really, the Prospect Park Track Club is providing a really fun way for you to deposit some credit into the calorie bank!
By that we mean: a bit of fun exercise.
This exercise comes to you in the form of the “PPTC Turkey Trot 5m,” a five mile walk / run / waddle that awards all who finish with medals! Yay! As well as “Race Souveneirs” to the first 1500 registered entrants, finish or no.
The trot is on Thanksgiving Morning, which also may, as a benefit or not depending on your culinary skills, provide a convenient alibi with which to escape any kitchen debacles which might or might not occur from the attempted execution of poorly written recipes. We have yet to find a recipe for Sweet Potatoes that actually works, for instance, and so cherish any opportunity to avoid being expected to try and cook something.
Register for the race by November 24th (you can register online until the 20th) for $25, or wait until Race Day and pay $30.
Check the online event flyer here, for information about registering.
