Do you love bargains? If the answer is yes then there are two days in the year that you probably look forward to: Black Friday and Cyber Monday. On both of these dates, stores everywhere try to lure shoppers in their doors to shop and shop some more. They do this by offering special deals, limited-time bargains, small quantities, incentives (e.g. free gifts) and sometimes they open their doors incredibly early or even on Thanksgiving Day.
There are many deals to be found on Black Friday and certain tips can help you save some time and money.
Prepare. Try to find out ahead of time the sales that are coming up. Many stores have their sales posted early. And check local sales circulars. Sometimes they have coupons in them. Also, check your email. If you’re signed up with certain stores, they’ll sometimes mail special coupons for you to use. You might be able to use them on Black Friday. Most importantly, compare prices for the things that you are interested in.
Be methodical and prioritize. You might not get all you want. Decide ahead of time which items are most important. Coordinate with others (family and friends) who are also shopping that day. They may be able to go to one store while you tackle another.
Map out the areas where the stores are located and, if possible, go to the closest ones first. Keep in mind that certain stores have longer lines than others though, so you might also want to consider going to the stores that see less traffic, first. Decide ahead of time.
Leave the house early. Consider using public transportation, if possible, because you might have trouble finding parking space.
Have a positive attitude. Bargain hunting doesn’t have to be a teeth grinding experience. Just think about all the good deals to be gotten! You’ll have more energy to deal with the long lines if you don’t get stressed out.
Remember that if you buy any items that have mail-in rebates offered with them, mail them out early, as some offers expire quickly.
Cyber Monday is an alternative for those not wanting or able to stand on those long lines or a good substitute (or back up) for items that you might not have gotten on Black Friday. Some Cyber Monday sales start early. You might even get free shipping. Make sure you know what the return policy is before ordering.
Have a happy shopping experience!
