Today we finally finished watching the last of Roots the Next Generations film, which dealt a lot about Malcolm X including his assassination. It has been a wonderful trip through history. Afterwards our daughter talked about how she really would love to go to an African village and spend time there but was afraid now she can’t because she is white after watching this whole series. She also talked about how she would not stay there long because that is where killer bees originated from and are. It was really cute hearing her talk to her older sister about all of this. Going to Africa has been something she has talked about since she was 3, as much as she talks about it; I truly believe she will get there one day.
We also taught her how to play euchre which she got the hang of really quickly. I actually was impressed as I have had a hard time teaching some adults this game! She always has been good at card games though so I suppose it should not have surprised me with how quickly she understood euchre. We also played Liars Dice with her, while she has a hard time bluffing convincingly; she is catching on to my bluffs!
Our son came home from his friends today, having been there since Friday so he really did not do too much. He was really tired from his stay at his friends but seems he had a really good time while he was there. Both kids played this new multiplayer computer game we downloaded last week after our daughter found it in her computer searches she constantly is doing. It is called Mabinogi and both kids really enjoy it, it does seem pretty cool. One nice thing about multiplayer games is that they have to do a lot of reading and spelling with the other players. Our daughter also read Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Suess to me.
We have been enjoying walks in the rain as well, getting to see box turtles and skinks out in the rain, we went on two today. Our daughter also spent quite a bit of time listening to music on the radio, a station that is playing all the latest hits. She also spent quite a bit of time cutting up old clothes and pieces of fabric to make outfits for her stuffed animals. They turned out really cute too!
