The alertness of several Taft Education Center administrator’s is being credited for the swift arrest of three suspects in a nearby home invasion. On October 5, several students from the alternative education school were trailed by administrators who had become suspicious of their behavior during the day. After school, the students made their way to a home on Farmdale Street, then allegedly removed two big-screen televisions from the premises. They left one hidden in a nearby backyard and walked away with another.
The administrators called Ferndale police as the incident was happening. By the time the police arrived, the suspects had scattered. Within a few hours, though, three of them were apprehended and arrested; one more suspect is believed to still be at large. Of those arrested, all three were Detroit residents between the ages of 18 and 19.
