Unfortunately cold weather is here but the bright side of that is the fact that you get to wear cute and stylish mittens. If you are looking to make your own pair of mittens there are several great knitting patterns for mittens available for free on the Internet. Here are three of my favorite knitting patterns for mittens.
Subliminal Rabbit: Bella’s Mittens
Marielle Henault, who is the blogger behind the blog Subliminal Rabbit, has created a pattern that allows you to create a very cute and stylish pair of mittens that look exactly like the ones that Bella wore in the movie Twilight. Even if you are not a Twilight fan you will still find these mittens absolutely gorgeous. The pattern is written in a downloadable PDF format, which makes it easy to print them out for use while knitting. The directions are very well written, and there are plenty of pictures of the finished product. These gloves are not something that a beginning knitter would be able to tackle easily, as advanced knitting skills are required.

Knittingjuju: iPhone Mittens
If you are the owner of an iPhone (or a Droid or any of the other phones that require bare fingertips) you will definitely want a pair of mittens that allow you to easily remove your fingers so that you can use your phones, and these mittens are designed for just that. The pattern, which is written by Julie of knittingjuju, is also available in a downloadable PDF format for easy printing and reading. The iPhone Mittens are made using basic knitting stitches, and would be easy for a beginning knitter to complete.

Pickles: Mittens for Miss
One of the reasons I have always avoided mittens is that they remind me of a young child, and I do not want to look like a young child. The Mittens for Miss mittens from Pickles do not look anything like a young child’s mittens; they are feminine, elegant, and stylish. The pattern is easy to follow, with plenty of pictures that show certain steps throughout the knitting process. An average knitter should be able to easily make these mittens.
