One scary Halloween house to visit for the whole family is the Lombard Jaycee’s haunted house located in Lombard, Illinois. It has been scaring its guests for thirty years with visions of the past brought back to show the present. Children under the age of 10 can walk through for $5 and adults are $10. Saturday nights offer kid matinees and the prices are free. The Jaycee’s haunted house opens its doors Thursday nights through Sundays and Halloween from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm.
For more haunting, thrill seekers can also travel to Sullivan, Illinois and walk through Shotgun Manor. It is open every weekend in October through the night of Halloween. The story behind Shotgun Manor is about an eleven year old girl named Emalee who went into the house because she had ran away and was hiding from something that was evil. She had a gift that brought her dreams to reality. As Emalee fell asleep in the old house, its haunts engulfed her and her nightmares became a reality which took over the old manor. Visitors now can walk through the old manor to experience those nightmares from little Emallee. The old manor sits in the back alley of 2 South Washington Street in Sullivan, Illinois. In Amish country, families and their children can get a few chills touring through the Enchanted Cave located at Rockome Gardens in Arcola, Illinois. For those who are brave enough, they can walk through the deep dark cave and enter into the bridge of lights room or explore the slanted swing. The Enchanted Cave has been a fun attraction for many visitors throughout the years it has rested at Rockome Gardens. The gardens is open Monday through Saturdays and closed on Sundays. After a tour through the Enchanted Cave, families can gather their fright to tour the rest of the gardens or have some ice cream at the ice cream shop.
