The Creed for a joyful life
I believe that the light of God is within me and is meant to be shared with the world
I believe that forgiveness can bring freedom and live giving peace.
I believe that I am a Beloved daughter of God.
I believe that everyone I meet is God’s cherished Beloved Child.
I believe the only way to live a joyful life is to look at ourselves honestly and with Love
“Do not ever allow sadness take such a hold of your spirit that it leads you to forget the joy of the resurrected Christ. We all long for God’s paradise, but we all have the opportunity to find ourselves in it right here. We only need to be happy with Christ right here and now.”
There may be occasions in out lives when we feel sad, angry frustrated etc.How then can we maintain the joy of Easter while also dealing with those everyday problems, and the major disappointments or tragedies in our life? There are many ways, but I am going to focus on remembering who we are and being attentive to Gods creation. Also remembering what God has done for us, by celebrating and sharing our own joy. One answer is to continue our reflections in April. Continue prayer and being connected with God. Remember who we are. As St. Francis said,” I am who I am in God, nothing more and nothing less.” We are Gods beloved daughters or sons. What a joy that is! These are reflections that can last for at least a week.
Along with silent and meditative prayer there is one which helps us commune with nature and lets God’s creation speak to us. I will try to explain my meaning. While I am at the ocean I sit on an isolated beach and having no plans about my prayers or thinking about what I want God to show or tell me today. I just sit there absorbing the sounds, the air, the beauty of the waves, and let these elements do to me what they will. The ocean speaks to me however it wishes. I let these sights and sounds absorb my whole being until at some point we seem to become one. I come away with feelings of deep peace and joy. I feel God’s presence in nature.
Another way of appreciating the joy of God is to remember what He has done of us. That is for you indidually.Do you have a husband or wife whom you love deeply? Do they understand and accept your weaknesses and well as your strengths? What a gift from God! Only you know how God has blessed you. Many times we forget to remember our blessings, especially during difficult times.
Celebrate in some way this gift. For me it is music. I love to dance to faith-filled songs and to express my joy of what God has given me. Share your joy in any way comfortable for you. Talk with your family about God has given you. Write it down in a poem or story. It is good to share joy. I can guarantee that others will see the happiness you have in your daily life. Thanks be to God!
