Principles before politics. Courage before cowardice. This is what today’s 99ers are asking for from their representatives in Congress. It is not what they are receiving. At 5 ½ million strong, with an estimated 200,000+ joining their ranks every month, every additional day of inaction by Congress to take up the mantle of passing legislation supporting a Tier V unemployment insurance extension exacerbates the 99ers sense of abandonment. Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord; and the 99ers! The 99ers fully intend to extract their pound of flesh with the only thing that they have left of value; their vote!
Comment after comment after comment on the blogs related to passing legislation in support of a Tier V says one thing – a no vote for me by an incumbent on the creation of a Tier V = a vote for their opponent in the mid-term elections. Failure to push for this legislation = a vote for the incumbents opponent. Failure to actively represent me = a vote for your opponent. There is no party affiliation that matters. The 99ers fully intend to vote against the incumbent that has failed to support them, regardless of party affiliation. The simple question that all incumbents should be asking is why should they vote for them? When elected officials put politics before principles, re-election before representation, what good are they? How bad can the incumbent’s opponent be in representing my needs when the person currently holding office refuses to? Simply put, the incumbents are quickly proving to a huge block of voters that they don’t matter. Just imagine how this is going to play in Peoria come election day!
Hell hath no furry like a 99er scorned! Many incumbents will fail to heed this warning at their own peril. Make no mistake; the current economic climate is a Depression for the 99ers plain and simple, and they are VERY motivated to vote in the upcoming mid-terms. It does not get any worse than what they are currently going through. The 99ers are doing the one thing they have left available to them, they are organizing, they are supporting each other in this cause, they are vowing that “we will show them come election day”. Stupid is as stupid does, and I unfortunately expect that there will be plenty of stupid to go around by republicans, democrats, and independent incumbents alike as they continue to discount the needs, and the impact, of this large group of motivated voters. Incumbents; just don’t say that you weren’t warned.
