Good hair care is always difficult to keep up, with jobs, kids, school, etc, but it’s especially hard during the winter, when cold dry air sucks moisture out of your hair follicles, and leaves hair brittle and easy to break off. Below are some great tips that anyone can follow to having fast growing, healthy hair.
When using a hair straightener, curling iron, or blow dryer, always use a heat protector on your hair. Intense heat causes a large amount of breakage to the ends of your hair, keeping hair from growing longer. There are great hair products that put a layer of protection around your hair, keeping it from coming in direct contact from the damage straighteners and blow dryers cause. My personal favorite is the Pantene Pro-V heat protection line, cheap and available for any type of hair.
Condition often. Shampooing regularly leaves hair clean, but it can also leave hair dry. That’s why conditioner is so important. It restores oils to the hair and keeps hair shiny and full of movement. There are tons of different types of conditioner, some are for regular use, and some are for intense care, when your hair is in dire need of moisture. Most hair care lines make their own conditioner, but for an extra dose of care, try Nexxus Humectress Hydrating Deep Conditioner.
Treat wet hair with care. Wet hair is more vulnerable than dry hair; the shaft of the hair is defenseless, and the ends are easier to damage. That’s why there are a few rules to obey when hair is wet. First, brush wet hair with a comb instead of a brush so as to not tear the hair shaft. Second, instead of rubbing hair dry, try patting it dry, so that the hair won’t tear out. And third, mist the ends of wet hair with leave in conditioner, like Aussie hair insurance leave in conditioner.
Try vitamins. Vitamins B, C, and E are essential for hair growth. And prenatal vitamins contain all of these. Many people think prenatal vitamins are only for expectant mothers, but they are great for general health as well. Prenatals can be found in any general market store, such as Wal-Mart and Kroger’s, in the vitamin aisle.
The most important rule to follow for healthy hair is of course healthy eating. Hair is made up of proteins and fats, so food rich in protein and healthy fats, like lean chicken and vegetables, makes hair healthy and shiny. One detriment to beautiful strong hair is smoking and bleaching. Smoking dries out hair and makes it brittle and limp and bleaching can be so bad as to make hair actually fall out.
Following these steps will leave hair beautiful and fast growing, so try one, two, or all!
